This post isn’t *completely* off-topic since it relates to WMP 🙂 Yesterday, France launched its 24h/day ninternational news channel: France 24 The site offers a video feed in English live.france24.com/fr… and French live.france24.com/fr… If you want to bypass the main page and bookmark the video feeds, you can copy them here and use them in WMP9 or QuickTime Player (command-D to add to bookmarks) providing you have the Flip4Mac WMV codecs. For people like me, it provides an interesting alternative to the all-US news channel…

Categories & Exchange

Telestream (Flip4Mac) & Popwire
It looks like there is some concentrations on the Mac field of WMV players/encoders. Today, Telestream (FLip4Mac) announced that they had acquired PopWire: Telestream Press Release I don’t know whether it is a good thing or a bad thing for us, end-users. On one hand, it will bring new talents and knowledge to Flip4Mac, hopefully leading to a better product, on the other, it also means that there is no competition for Flip4Mac any more… On dirait qu’il y a des concentrations sur le marché…

Flip4Mac WMV 2.1 UB
Flip4Mac WMV 2.1 was released today. Numerous corrections over the previous version but the most welcome improvement is the fact that the new version is now Universal Binary. It works like a chamr on my Mac. Thanks to the Telestream/Flip4Mac folks Most components of the suite appear to be easily localizable.
