It&#8217;s a bit sad since there was a lot of things to talk about. It&#8217;s just that I&#8217;ve been really overwhelmed and I just could not find the time to sit down and post here everything that was going on\u2026<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One of the most important news is that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/presspass\/press\/2008\/may08\/05-13MacBU2008PR.mspx?rss_fdn=Press%20Releases\">VBA is coming back in the next version of Office<\/a>. That means that everybody who relies on VBA (and I know quite a few) will benefit from a rewritten VBA implementation as of Office&#8230; 20xx?\n<\/li>\n<li>The Office for Mac team blog also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.officeformac.com\/blog\/Solver-For-Excel-2008--Available-By-Mid-September\">announced<\/a> that the Solver would be back for Office 2008 (free of charge) in mid-September.\n<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_Office2008&#038;fid=C75DB26D-D3BC-49A4-8951-DE27AE58B5A1#viewer\">Office 12.1.1 update<\/a> came out. This update fixes the creator type code issue that prevented people from opening their files through a simple double-click is gone.<br \/>\nThe problem was related to downloaded files getting (through the application downloading them) outdated creator codes. For some undisclosed reason related to security, Office was refusing to open them. You had to use the Open command in Office. Well this is history now (and so are the scripts I wrote to fix the issue by correcting the creator code of affected files).<br \/>\nThe update brings along the latest Auto-Updater update. This means that if you install Office 208 today, all you need is the 12.1.0 update, then the 12.1.1. You can skip the auto-update update if you have already downloaded these two.<br \/>\nWith the new version I&#8217;m not experiencing as many SyncServices issues as I used to. Not perfect, but better\u2026 <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_Office2004&#038;fid=B6D69814-0995-490D-909A-5EC6AE6F64F0#viewer\">Office 11.5.0<\/a> is also out. A combo updater (so you can go straight from 10.0 to 10.5) bringing support for Office 2008 XML-based files if you also install the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_AddTools&#038;fid=6B9238E1-CF69-48C4-BF2D-C4A8ACEEE520#viewer\">converters<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_Messenger&#038;fid=E3F79AE4-7B7C-42AB-89C0-EC5F513C24F3#viewer\">Messenger 7.0.1<\/a> is out. Not much to say about it.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_RDC&#038;fid=803F9438-8DF3-490F-92C6-0E0F92787DB8#viewer\">Remote Desktop Connection 2.0 final<\/a> is also out. The new version brings additional bug fixes and also a few improvements over the last beta.<\/li>\n<li>The EndNote folks released their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.endnote.com\/support\/CWYW_Word_2008.asp\">Word 2008 add-on<\/a>. A major re-write with serious improvements (seems a lot faster on my Mac). Only for EndNote X1\u2026 The installer works well if both Office and EndNote are in \/Applications and if the Word startup folder hasn&#8217;t been customized.  It wasn&#8217;t the case for me so I had to perform the installation manually. Not hard, but it&#8217;s a bit of a pain.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That&#8217;s it for now \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" \/>\n<p>J&#8217;ai \u00e9t\u00e9 assez silencieux derni\u00e8rement.  Ce n&#8217;est pas que je n&#8217;avais rien \u00e0 dire, mais j&#8217;ai \u00e9t\u00e9 atrocement d\u00e9bord\u00e9 et je n&#8217;ai simplement pas eu le temps de venir par ici pour poster des nouvelles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Une des nouvelles les plus importantes est sans doute que le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/presspass\/press\/2008\/may08\/05-13MacBU2008PR.mspx?rss_fdn=Press%20Releases\">VBA sera de retour dans la prochaine version d&#8217;Office<\/a>. Une excellent e nouvelle pour tous ceux qui se reposent sur ce language de macro commandes pour Office (et j&#8217;en connais un certain nombre). Cette version sera r\u00e9\u00e9crite et on peut donc esp\u00e9rer des am\u00e9liorations de performances du VBA dans Office \u202620XX ?\n<\/li>\n<li>Le blog officiel des d\u00e9veloppeurs d&#8217;Office a \u00e9galement <a href=\"http:\/\/www.officeformac.com\/blog\/Solver-For-Excel-2008--Available-By-Mid-September\">annonc\u00e9<\/a> que le solveur sera de retour pour Office 2008 gratuitement \u00e0 la mi-septembre.<\/li>\n<li>La <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_Office2008&#038;fid=C75DB26D-D3BC-49A4-8951-DE27AE58B5A1#viewer\">mise \u00e0 jour Office 12.1.1<\/a> est disponible. Cette mise \u00e0 jour fixe notamment le soucis li\u00e9 aux codes cr\u00e9ateurs qui emp\u00eachait l&#8217;ouverture par un simple double-clic de fichiers t\u00e9l\u00e9charg\u00e9s par certaines applications. Ces applications ajoutaient un code cr\u00e9ateur obsol\u00e8te et pour des raisons li\u00e9s \u00e0 la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 (que Microsoft n&#8217;a pas expliqu\u00e9es) Office refusait de les ouvrir ainsi. Vous deviez passer par le menu Ouvrir dans Office.<br \/>\nTout \u00e7a est de l&#8217;histoire ancienne (tout comme le sont les scripts que j&#8217;avais \u00e9crits pour corriger le code cr\u00e9ateur sur ces fichiers).<br \/>\nCette mise \u00e0 jour apporte \u00e9galement la derni\u00e8re version du module de mise \u00e0 jour automatique. Cela sous-entend que pour mettre une version 12.0 \u00e0 jour vous n&#8217;avez besoin que de la mise \u00e0 jour 12.1.0 puis de la 12.1.1. Vous pouvez ignorer la mise \u00e0 jour de l&#8217;auto-mise \u00e0 jour si vous avez d\u00e9j\u00e0 t\u00e9l\u00e9charg\u00e9 ces deux derni\u00e8res<br \/>\nAvec cette nouvelle version j&#8217;ai beaucoup moins de soucis avec les SyncServices. Une mise \u00e0 jour combin\u00e9e qui permet au demeurant de passer directement de 10.0 \u00e0 10.5.0 et apporte le support pour les fichiers Office 2008 bas\u00e9es sur le XML pour peu que vous installiez les <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_AddTools&#038;fid=6B9238E1-CF69-48C4-BF2D-C4A8ACEEE520#viewer\">convertisseurs<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_Messenger&#038;fid=E3F79AE4-7B7C-42AB-89C0-EC5F513C24F3#viewer\">Messenger 7.0.1<\/a> est disponible. Pas grand chose \u00e0 jouter.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/mac\/downloads.mspx?pid=Mactopia_RDC&#038;fid=803F9438-8DF3-490F-92C6-0E0F92787DB8#viewer\">Remote Desktop Connection 2.0 final<\/a> est disponible. Quelque corrections de bogues et quelques am\u00e9liorations par rapport \u00e0 la derni\u00e8re version b\u00e9ta.<\/li>\n<li>Les d\u00e9veloppeurs d&#8217;EndNote on mis en ligne leur <a href=\"http:\/\/www.endnote.com\/support\/CWYW_Word_2008.asp\">module externe pour Word 2008<\/a>. Une r\u00e9-\u00e9criture massive du module d&#8217;int\u00e9gration (qui semble bien plus rapide sur mon Mac). Uniquement pour EndNote X1. L&#8217;Installateur fonctionne correctement si Office et EndNote sont dans \/Applications et si vous n&#8217;avez pas personnalis\u00e9 le dossier d&#8217;ouverture au d\u00e9marrage de Word. \u00c7a n&#8217;\u00e9tait pas mon cas, et j&#8217;ai donc du faire l&#8217;installation \u00e0 la main. Pas atroce, mais fastidieux.
